Ingredients:

Method:

  • Slice finely the onions and fry golden brown.
  • Add all the masalas and cook gently for a few minutes.
  • Add the cubed meat, stirring occasionally, then cover and put in the oven till the meat is tender.
  • The meat will make its own gravy but if desired add a little water.
  • Before serving add a little Worcester sauce.
  • Fry the diced potatoes and mix with the meat. Optional.
  • Add fried bread, which has been cut into small cubes.

Day 3: Bijapur - Hospet (about 200km)
En route to Hospet are situated the three capitals of the Chalukya-dynasty:Aihole, Pattadakal and Badami. Aihole was the first capital from 6th to 8th century and is historically known as the cradle of Hindu temple architecture. Today it is a picturesque little village with about 70 temples. The group of temples at Pattadakal, incomparable gracious and a fantasy in stone represents the climax of the early Western Chalukyan architecture. Badami, the second Capital of the Chalukyas, is magnificently nestled in a canyon and it's cave temples display the full range of religious sects which have grown on Indian soil.

Day 4: Hospet - Hampi - Hospet (about 17 km)
Discover the numerous ruins and temples of Hampi, Capital of the once mighty Vijayanagar Empire, and one of the most interesting and least visited historical sites in India. Hampi has magical quality and the ruins are superb, set in a strange hill country strewn with enormous, rounded boulders. The most important monuments are the Shiva temple with a 50 m high Gopuram and a large statue of Narashima.
