Sariska Tiger Reserve

Eravikulam National Park

Due to considerable protection the number of the Tahrs have increased. Kerala State is the southernmost tip of India. Eravikulam National Park is located near Munnar, a tea town which is around 130 Kms away from Cochin, an important city and sea port of Kerala. Tiger, Panther and Wild dogs are usually sighted in both the open grass lands and sholas forests. Civet cat and jungle cat also live in the sholas. Sloth bear, Nilgiri langur and Wild boar are generally found in sholas and on their fringes. The Atlas moth, the largest of its kind in the world, is seen in this Park.
Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary
Amidst the Anamali Ranges of Tamil Nadu and the Nelliampathy Ranges of Kerala on the majestic Western Ghats lies the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. It is an excellent example of serene, tranquil and undisturbed eco system. Located in Palakkad district, it was originally a small tract of reserve forest of 48 sq.kms. However, owing to growing wildlife needs, it was expanded in 1962, and today it is a vast expanse of greenery of 285sq.kms in area.
Suited for teak, the tract encouraged large scale teak plantations thorugh artifical regeneration in the early 20's. This was, however, abandoned when a full-fledged Wildlife department was formed in 1985. 9,000 ha of teak plantations in the sanctuary are being managed in such a way as to restore the forest's original status. A giant teak tree 40m high and 6.4m in girth is a standing monument of the past aptly named 'Kannimaram'.
Periyar National Park
The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the banks of the Periyar lake - an artificial lake, at Thekkady and is the pride of Kerala and a testimony to nature's splendour and human innovation,. Here the high ranges of the Western Ghats are clothed in dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grasslands. Below this thick green canopy roam herds of elephants, sambars, tigers, gaurs, lion tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs.
In addition to elephant rides, cruises on the lake and treks to the ruined Mangaladevi temple - a beautiful old stone temple situated in the heart of the Thekkady forest, this sanctuary offers the unique opportunity to watch and photograph wild elephants at close quarters.

Kawak wildlife

Nehru Zoological Park
Situated on the Hyderabad-Bangalore highway, this zoological park is one of the largest in India and is just 16km from Hyderabad. The zoo houses nearly 1500 species of animals, birds and reptiles. There is a safari park where visitors can go on a conducted tour in protected vans to see the animals in their natural habitat. A Natural History Museum, an aquarium and a Children's Park are added attractions.
Srisailam Sanctuary
Indian Wildlife Tour Packages, Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Sanctuary is the largest of India's Tiger Reserves, lies in the state of Andhra Pradesh. With rugged and winding gorges slice through the Mallamalai hills, the reserve is the large reservoir of the Nagarjunasagar Dam on the River Krishna. The dry deciduous forests with scrub and bamboo thickets provide shelter to a range of animals from the tiger and leopard at the top of the food chain, to deer, sloth bear, hyena, jungle cat, palm civet, bonnet macaque and pangolin. In this unspoilt jungle, the tiger is truly nocturnal and is rarely seen.

Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary
Originating from two Kannada words-'nagar' meaning snake and 'hole' meaning streams, the sanctaury is true to its name a number of streams snake through its rich tropical forests. Nagarahole is situated in the picturesque districts of Kodagu and Mysore in southern Karnataka. The Nagarahole National Park was first set up in 1955. In 1975 its area was increased to include a greater expanse of forest reserve.
Bandipur National Park
The Bandipur Nabond Park is the home of some very rare species of animals and birds and was set up in 1931 in the foothills of the Nilgiris by the Mysore Mahara jas. One of the most fascinating sanctuaries of Karnataka, Bandipur has an exquisite variety of wildlife including tigers, peafowl, elephants, sambas, barking deer, quail and the hornbill. Another major attraction of the Park is the Safari on an elephant back which can make your trip an unforgettable experience. The best time to visit Bandipur (140 km from Mysore) is between June and October.
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

The Bannerghatta National Park
Teeming with exotic species of wildlife, the Park was established in 1971. The park boasts of an astonishing variety of trees like sandal, jalari, chujjullu, neem, tamarind, zizyphus amongst others and lies 22 kms. from Bangalore. The 104 sq km-park includes ten reserve forests of Anekal Range of the Bangalore Forest Division. It is surrounded by scenic hills, with many ancient temples perched on them.
