Kamakshiamman Temple:

Kamakshi Amman temple is one of the famous temples of kancheepuram, dedicated to the Goddess Kamakshi, the consort of Lord Siva is the most important one. A Yantra is placed in front of the idol. There is an image of Sri Sankaracharya in this temple. In our land of Bharatha Kanda, there are 64 Sakthi peetas. The names of Kamakshi, Meenakshi and Visalakshi are all based on the term denoting eyes. ‘Akshi’ means eyes. The Devas prayed to Siva to destroy Bandakasura who harassed them. Siva told the Devas to enter the tunnel at Mount Kailas, get up at Kanchi, and worship Kamakshi. Kamakshi tread upon the neck of Bandakasura who was sleeping at Kailas and returned to Kanchi. At Kanchi she changed her form into a benign figure and stayed there for devotees to her darshan. To prevent Eros from harassing the sages with his qualities of amour, she took away the Lotus, Asoka, Mango, Mallikai and Nilotpalam (five flowers) and kept them herself.

The consecrated shrine of Vishnu avatara is located in the heart of the ancient and holy city of Kanchipuram or Periya Kanchi. Sri Ulagalanda Perumal Temple in comparison to the other temples enjoys the unique distinction of housing many sanctums in a single shrine, namely Peragam or Oxragam, Neeragam, Kaaragam and Kaaragam which are all considered as Divya Desams as they have been praised in the hymns of Tirumazhisai Azhvar and Tirumangai Azhvar. Vijaya Ragava Perumal Temple:

This Divyadesam is situated about 7 miles away from Kanchipuram in west direction. 1/2 km away from Baluchetti Chattiram which is in between Chennai - Vellore highways. By travelling about 50 miles from Chennai, we can reach this sthalam. This temple is located in the centre of Kanchipuram. One version you might hear about this temple would say that this temple is called "Kaccheeswarar Temple". This stands for Kachi+Eswarar = "Lord of Kanchi". Kachi is another name for Kanchipuram

The real reason, however, is that the main deity in this temple is called Kacchapa Eswarar. "Kacchapam" is Sanskrit for "Turtle". Hindu mythology suggests that the main deity in this temple (Lord Shiva) was worshipped by Lord Vishnu in the form of a Turtle. Hence the name Kacchapeswarar Temple.

Kachapaeaswarar Temple:

:At present, this is a full fledged Hindu temple under the administration of the Hindu Temples Department of the Tamilnadu Government. There are n't many sculptures or architectural wonders in this temple. So, there is not much of a feast for a camera in this temple. However, this is one of the few temples where you would have to pay a fee for taking a camera into the premises.
