Travel to munnar - Located in the Idukki district of the southern state of Kerala, Munnar is one of the most beautiful travel destinations in munnar. The word Munnar means 3 rivers, 3 mountain streams(Madurapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala). Munnar is also referred to as" the Switzerland of India" for its picturesque surroundings. The place is about 1600 m above the sea level. The area is completely dotted with lakes, mountains, streams, wooded valleys, hurling waterfalls and tea plantations which makes this place , the ultimate paradise for the munnar travel packages.

History

The Shola forests in and around Mattupetty are ideal for trekking and are habitat to a variety of birds.

» Fort Munnar - The fort offers a fantastic panorama of gentle slopes and spectacular view of the coffee, tea and cardamom plantations. In the shape of a colonial architecture, the Fort Munnar is finely tuned with enormous trees, enchanting hills and foliages surrounding it. The forests surrounding Fort Munnar are home to exotic spices that have been reaching all parts of the world from time immemorial.

» Rajmala - It is a natural habitat of Nilgiri Tahr. This land holds the distinction of owning half the population oh this rare species which is on the verge of becoming extinct.

» Echo Point - Travel destinations in munnar offers an awesome sight of the surroundings.

Travel in munnar - While at Munnar, something that is not to be missed is the Eravikulam National Park. The park, at a distance of 15 km from Munnar, was originally established to protect the Nilgiri Tahr.
